A hummingbird hawkmoth year

Whilst the steady stream of heatwaves this year are having some terrible effects on the countryside, one the benefits may be the large influx of insects including hummingbird hawkmoths. In previous years we have occasionally had them in the garden but this year they’re common and we have seen them frequently elsewhere in Northamptonshire.   1. Really nice action shot. Here is one of two mating which I took recently at Barbury Castle in Wiltshire. You might also enjoy the other pair. I will need to have a look in my Swift boxes at soemtime now they have all left. If you wanted to havea look in them, let me know. (you would need a head for heights!) John
